Restart a Heart Day Extravaganza!

This year we’ve been on a mission across schools and charities, teaching life-saving skills with more energy than ever! And, we’ve got the numbers to prove it: this Restart a Heart Day, we trained 236 people on how to call for help, perform CPR, and use a defibrillator!
That’s more than double the number we trained last year.

What’s Restart a Heart Day?

Restart a Heart Day is a global initiative on 16th October that’s all about teaching ordinary people like me and you how to save lives. Across the world, organizations like ours get everyone (from kids to grandparents) comfortable with CPR and defibrillation. It’s estimated that less than 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, but CPR and using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can double or even triple survival rates!

Our 2024 Restart a Heart Tour  Here’s where we made it happen over 14th, 15th, and 16th October:

  • Five Primary Schools – (yes, teachers joined in too!)
  • Two Independent Schools – because heart skills aren’t just for adults!
  • St. Augustine’s Centre – a special stop for new families in the community.

Training Fun and Facts

During our 30-minute workshops, we showed everyone the basics in a way that’s fast, easy, and full of laughs (and maybe some sweat!). Here’s what went down:

 1. CPR to the Beat: Forget the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive”—we kicked it up a notch and did our compressions to “Baby Shark.”

 2. Hands-On Defibrillation Demos: We had AEDs on hand and guided everyone on how to use them. Did you know? AEDs are designed to be fool proof—they actually talk to you, so you’ll know what to do every step of the way.

 3. Call for Help Drill: Dial 999, send for help, and keep those compressions going! Quick fact: Effective CPR can maintain blood flow to the brain and organs until professional help arrives.

Some Heart-Stopping (But in a Good Way) Stats ❤📈

Each minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces survival chances by 10%.

3 out of 4 cardiac arrests happen at home, meaning knowing CPR could save a loved one’s life.

In the UK, only 1 in 3 people feel confident performing CPR—our training sessions aim to boost that number.

So, that’s a whopping 236 new heart heroes in the community! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

From primary school kids to teachers and families, these folks now know how to jump in and help in an emergency. We had so much fun (and Baby Shark haunting our dreams). Thank you to everyone who participated, from the schools to St. Augustine’s — together, we’re building a community of lifesavers.
