Every so often, someone puts into words exactly what you’ve been trying to do all along — and when that happens, it’s nothing short of magic.
At Splat Training, we talk a lot about our aims and values.
Things like:
- Learning through play (not just ticking boxes).
- Making serious skills playful and unforgettable.
- Creating a space where every person feels included, seen, and safe. Using evidence-based methods that actually work.
- Being daft and human, even when the subject is serious.
- And ultimately, helping people leave training feeling more confident and more capable.
We say all this — but when someone else feels it and feeds it back to us, it’s one of the best feelings in the world.
Sarah from Grow School recently sent us the most thoughtful, heartfelt review after her team’s paediatric first aid training.
She wrote:
“This is the third time my school has used Splat Training in the past 3 years and once again, Meg did a spectacular job of providing our paediatric first aid training. A Splat training session is most certainly not ‘death by Powerpoint’. It’s ‘life-saving by learning.’
Meg incorporated a range of teaching strategies, all of which are evidence-based ways of improving retention amongst participants. Careful consideration is given to the way knowledge is shared, this included a range of engaging activities such as videos, team-games, quizzes, independent activities, and the opportunity for sharing anecdotes through group discussion.
Our group have a range of neurodivergent needs and this training was certainly delivered with inclusivity at its core. Concepts were presented using concrete, real objects and powerful videos/images before developing into more abstract, written formats. This approach meant that all participants were able to access a deeper insight into the ‘why’ of First Aid as well as the ‘what’. The session was well-paced and activities were ordered and presented in a way that maintained the attention of all. We laughed a lot throughout the session even though Meg covered some extremely challenging and potentially triggering topics. The carefully considered use of playful activities and humour was key to keeping our team feeling calm and safe to be able to tackle the challenging content.
We are a team who work with young people with a range of special needs. We continue to use Splat Training because they deliver key information with methodology that is grounded in the most current research. Their training creates a renewed dedication to first aid, even for those who have done it many times before. It is done in such a way that includes all types of learners and all levels of experience.
It’s most definitely learning that sticks. Thank you!”
Honestly, it’s hard to read those words without getting a bit emotional.
This kind of feedback tells us that our intentions are becoming reality — that the way we design, deliver, and hold space in our training really is landing with people in the way we hope. When Sarah says that people laughed, felt safe, felt included, stayed engaged, and left with renewed dedication to first aid — we know we’re doing the thing we set out to do.
It’s not just about content. It’s about connection. It’s not just about passing a test — it’s about leaving changed.
So thank you, Sarah — and thank you to every single person who has ever shared your thoughts after training with us. You’re helping us learn too.
You’re helping us grow, refine, and stay on track with what matters most: putting people first, and delivering training that sticks. 🧡
