Hello I'm Amy Gault. I started the company after being at home with my son for 2 years. I was an intrepid new business owner and I have never looked back. I love working for myself and treat each challenge as a new adventure, and Splat Training is all about having adventures.

Splat was my nickname as a kid, in fact my sister still calls me Splat! (I hope) It's an affectionate term for a small thing.

The Great Outdoors My interest in all things outdoors came from my Dad. I started young, climbing at Hell Hole Rocks near the village of Heptonstall and at Kebs (Bridestones), on the tops of the Pennine Hills. As a family we spent annual holidays in the Lake District and Scotland (I have many midgy memories of Scottish camping trips!), and by the age of twenty, I knew that I wanted to work outdoors. I enrolled myself at Calderdale College and started out on this 18 year journey in the Outdoors Industry.

Before becoming a Mum I taught Outdoor Pursuits, Citizenship and First Aid in the Public Services Department of Hopwood Hall College, as well as studying Environmental Education at Liverpool John Moores University and Edge Hill University. I also work with the Duke of Edinburgh Award and I freelance at a variety of outdoor centres delivering climbing sessions, orienteering, hill walking and water sports.

Hello, I'm Meg Gault, Splat's Events and Marketing Manager. I love working with Splat! Amy is my auntie, which enables us to have a fantastic, easy, and understanding working relationship – we sometimes read each other’s minds.  Amy and I have similar career backgrounds, having both worked with children and young people in various settings. However, where Amy’s focus has been in the outdoors mine is in the creative arts; using drama and creativity as a tool to drive learning experiences.

My creative flare and my super positive outlook on life is what I bring to Splat, and use in all aspects of my work, whether it’s through social media posts, leading teambuilding sessions or in Splat Kids club. What makes Splat stand out from the crowd is that it is personable, friendly, and bright – by using a creative approach throughout Splat’s marketing and communications we hope you feel this!

The skills I learnt in my drama degree which I have perfected throughout my career are extremely valuable when leading groups at Yorkshire Teambuilding. Using subtle drama games and confidence building techniques allows the individuals and the team grow stronger, gain confidence in themselves and others, and feel comfortable in their surroundings. I believe that using these techniques brings out the best in people and allows them to communicate open and honestly – wouldn’t you like to be in a team who does that?

Over the past 6 years I have assisted Amy here and there by standing at networking events etc, but I officially began working for Splat during my pregnancy - fast forward to now, where I am sat with a toddler on my knee writing this, and am looking forward to becoming a first aid trainer too!

We are based between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden in the Upper Calder Valley, where we have our own fantastic farm based classroom in the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Pennines.

COVID-19 UPDATE 06/01/21

The First Aid Quality Partnership (FAQP) met on the 5th January 2021 to discuss the impact of the latest        lockdown restrictions on the delivery of First Aid training. The key message resulting from this meeting was:

“The provision of First Aid qualifications can continue to be delivered in line with existing COVID-secure guidelines”

This means we can go ahead with training, we are already following all the covid safe procedures. Remember First Aid Training is about saving lives. We must keep our skills up to date.

If you have bookings during this new lockdown we will be in touch. If you have any questions are shielding or otherwise concerned call Amy on 07796872170

Stay warm and cosy and use this time well x
