Splat Training is run by me, Amy Gault. I started the company after being at home with my son for 2 years. I was an intrepid new business owner and I have never looked back. I love working for myself and treat each challenge as a new adventure, and Spalt Training is all about having adventures.

The Great Outdoors

My interest in all things outdoors came from my Dad. I started young, climbing at Hell Hole Rocks near the village of Heptonstall and at Kebs (Bridestones), on the tops of the Pennine Hills. As a family we spent annual holidays in the Lake District and Scotland (I have many midgy memories of Scottish camping trips!), and by the age of twenty, I knew that I wanted to work outdoors. I enrolled myself at Calderdale College and started out on this 18 year journey in the Outdoors Industry.

Before becoming a Mum I taught Outdoor Pursuits, Citizenship and First Aid in the Public Services Department of Hopwood Hall College, as well as studying Environmental Education at Liverpool John Moores University and Edge Hill University

I also work with the Duke of Edinburgh Award and I freelance at a variety of outdoor centres delivering climbing sessions, orienteering, hill walking and water sports.

First Aid Skills

I did my first First Aid course with St Johns Ambulance Brigade in Todmorden at the age of 8 and I have kept my skills current ever since.
I am now a Qualsafe accredited centre, I undergo rigorous Internal and external quality assurance processes and I attend regular conferences, talk to other trainers and keep up to date through e-learning opportunities too. I am also very lucky to freelance for Meditrain a nationally recognised company with a fantastic reputation within the First aid industry; Josette and Griff are excellent trainers and highly knowledgeable, they give me lots of CPD opportunities.

Splat Training offers a range of exciting and practical courses:

  • Splat-Nav teaches a variety of hill skills, essential hazard awareness and navigation aids.
  • Team Building courses are ideal for Continuing Professional Development, up-skilling or even just for a fantastic group day out.
  • School Activities can be tailored to meet your needs and the needs of your pupils. We come to you to reduce costs and the need for tiresome logistics. We do all the risk assessments and lesson planning.

For all the courses the emphasis is on practical, hands-on learning and a smattering of fun.
This, we believe, is the most effective way to
make learning stick.

Most courses are delivered by a female instructor with a straight forward and engaging approach to learning. This year we will be welcoming another trainer to Splat…watch this space.

We are based in Hebden Bridge in the Upper Calder Valley, where we have our own fantastic farm based classroom in the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Pennines.
